Meet Nicola Tondini, SKYLOTEC athlete, and discover the story behind Pilastro Renato, a 670-metre, grade IX route on the north-west face of Civetta in the Dolomites.
Opened ground-up over two years without the use of bolts, the route was first free climbed by Nicola Tondini and Alessandro Baù in July 2026. During the talk, Nicola will share how the project began, the challenges they faced while opening and freeing the route, and the climbing techniques that made the ascent possible.
More than the story of a single route, it’s a journey through exploration, commitment and the search for a new line on the mountain, told first-hand by one of the climbers who made it happen.
